Club Manager – Junior Gateway Club – Saturday mornings (Term Time
We are looking to employ hardworking committed Manager for our Junior Gateway Cub which runs every
Saturday morning during term time.
Junior Gateway is a leisure group that meets on a Saturday morning in term-time at our hall. We
have two age groups that meet on alternate weeks; 5-10 year olds and 11-15 year olds. We have 15 children in each age group which is the right number to create a buzz but still enable us to create space for children if they are overwhelmed and need some quiet
Junior Gateway a specialist club and offers places to children with a learning disability who have
additional needs such as a physical disability, medical need, PEG feeding, behaviour that challenges or communication difficulties.
Due to the high level of need each child that attends has a volunteer 1:1 Helper. We recruit and
train the volunteer helpers and staff. Training includes Safeguarding, Communication Skills, Positive Behavioural Support and supervisors also have First Aid qualifications and are trained to administer emergency epilepsy medications and to do PEG feeding.
We offer various activities at the club including cooking, art and crafts, Wii, toys, lego. We
have a sensory room and soft play area, ball pool and a small garden.
We are based in Mote Park which we take advantage of by going for walks or to the play area.
Purpose of the role:
To provide a safe, caring, stimulating environment for young children who have learning disabilities
and/ or additional needs, working closely with their parents/ carers.
To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, and social care, for children placed in Junior
Club, at Maidstone Mencap Charitable Trust Ltd.
To provide the supervision of, and support to, the other personnel within the Juniors Club, therefore
implementing and maintaining the highest standards and quality practices.
The Daily management of the Junior Club in terms of marketing and administration.
The post will be for approximately 3 – 4 hours per week (from 9:30am), depending on demand.

Playschool Key Person – Cobtree Playschool
10 hours per week – term time only
Position to commence February 2019.
We are looking to recruit a hardworking, flexible, personable individual, who enjoys working as
part of a large team.
You will need to have experience of working in a busy early year’s child care setting and have
an understanding of the aims and commitments of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the SEND code of practice.
Candidates should have a childcare qualification, minimum of a level 2 or equivalent. Experience
of working with children with a learning disability and/or special needs would be desirable.
As an experienced practitioner you should have an understanding of the role of a key person, as
your duties will include carrying out observations and assessments of the children, to influence the planning of our high standards in the quality of care and learning opportunities, we are able to provide.
This position has been supported by funding applications to the KCC and is guaranteed to July 2019.
Applications for continuing funding are made annually.
